It's a time of year that gourmands wouldn't miss for the world! I'm talking about the famous galette des rois. ForEpiphany, it takes pride of place on many family tables. Original or traditional, galettes des rois are a delight for young and old alike. In 2024, the galettes are set to be so plentiful that it's hard to decide which one to try. That's why the Chambre des Métiers et de l'Artisanat and the Fédération de la Boulangerie-Pâtisserie du 91/78/95 organize annual competitions to find the best galette des rois. After the Greater Paris competition, it's time for the Val-d'Oise's best almond galette 2024 , a competition in which over 110 candidates took part this year!
This year, you'll have to go to Beaumont-sur-Oise to taste the award-winning galette des rois. The Boulay bakery-pâtisserie and its baker Frédéric Boulay won the 2024 edition of the Val-d'Oise's best almond galette ("Artisans/Employers" category)!
The icing on the cake was Medhi Nibba, who also works at Boulay's boulangerie-pâtisserie in Beaumont-sur-Oise, taking first prize in the"Apprentice category".
Last but not least, Vincent Cochet of Le Fournil d'Enghien bakery in Enghien-les-Bains took the prize for the department's best almond galette, in the"Employees" category.
Congratulations to the winners and participants!
