January 6 isEpiphany! It's a day that gourmets will celebrate with dignity by devouring one of the many galettes des rois devised by your local pastry chefs. Whether traditional or unusual, your taste buds will be thrilled by the generous frangipane and the golden color of the galette.
For those who don't know where to go to enjoy the famous galette des rois, competitions are organized every year, rewarding the best almond galettes in each département of the Paris region.
After Greater Paris and Val-d'Oise, it's time for Seine-et-Marne to take the honors. On December 13, the Maison de la boulangerie de Seine-et-Marne unveiled the results for the department's best almond galette 2024 . After touching, smelling and tasting the many participating galettes, the jury named the boulangerie Jebrane, located in Villeparisis, the overall winner of the competition. It won first prize for the best almond galette in Seine-et-Marne for the year 2024, in the"Entreprise" category.
Second place went to the Aux Trois Gourmands bakery in Roissy-en-Brie. Les Saveurs du Pain, based in Vaires-sur-Marne, took third place.
As for the apprentices, congratulations to Julie Metivier, working at Maison Jehenne in Presles-en-Brie, on her first place in the competition.
