Planning a trip to Paris soon? To visit the city, there's nothing better than taking the metro or the bus. Yes, but with which ticket?

A single ticket can take you a long way in Paris! But if you're staying in the capital for several days, you may be better off with a Navigo subscription... We take a look at the different offers available for travel on the public transport network in Paris and the Ile-de-France region.

Long weekend, week-long vacation, occasional visit... Depending on the length of your stay and your plans for your visit, you can save money on your travel by subscribing to certain Navigo subscriptions. Bus, streetcar, metro, RER: the options for travel are numerous, but these journeys can quickly add up to a hefty vacation bill.

At present, the basic ticket for travel on the RATP network costs 2.10 euros. It's ideal for people who rarely come to Paris, or who don't make many journeys during the day. Are you in a hurry and haven't had time to pick up your tickets before boarding a bus? You can obtain a valid ticket by sending an SMS to 93100: just text "Bus" and the number of your line (for example: Bus147 or Bus19). The cost of the ticket (2.50 euros) will be added directly to your telephone bill.

If you plan to make more than four journeys in a day, and don't want to be burdened with a multitude of small tickets, the Liberté+ pass is for you. This pass lets you travel freely: validate it for each trip, and pay the total for your journeys the following month. Note: day fares are capped at 8.45 euros.

Want to enjoy Paris and the surrounding region on a short break? Take a look at the Paris Visite package. This card gives you unlimited travel in zones 1 to 3, or 1 to 5, for 1 to 5 consecutive days. Prices vary according to the length of your stay, and range from 13.55 euros (zones 1 to 3, one day) to 74.30 euros (zones 1 to 5, five days).

Young people under the age of 26, people over 60 and people on social assistance are eligible for reduced fares on RATP transport. Details of these offers are available on the transport company's website.

Finally, if you're a regular visitor to Paris or its inner suburbs, the Week, Month and Year passes are for you.
