In recent years, fake flowers have really invaded Parisian cafés. While they tend to attract tourists and photo enthusiasts alike, Paris City Council is keen to regulate their use.

Very rare a few years ago, artificial flowers on the fronts of Parisian cafés are now legion. We always come across them on our strolls around the capital, and it's become a real marketing argument. These pretty colors make it easier to attract tourists or passers-by in search of a little coffee, who have to choose between two places before settling down. But aren't these flowery cafés too present, bordering on overdose? The Paris City Council seems to agree, and would like to introduce regulations to regulate their use.

They're an eye-catcher, and some people even stop to take photos! Often made of fabric, these flowers are sometimes mounted on real branches, and are easier for restaurateurs to maintain than real petals. They need to be refreshed from time to time to prevent them from turning bad due to pollution and bad weather . A certain cost, but well worth it for most retailers.

But they may not stay up forever, according to a decision by Paris City Hall! Last year, the city already wanted to regulate these colorful decorations in tourist districts, in accordance with the town planning code. Sometimes too exuberant, these artificial flowers don 't necessarily conform to the regulations and can clash with a building's architecture or color scheme.

These decorations are not authorized without prior approval from the town planning department, and must be submitted in writing. The modification of the building's external appearance must also be authorized by the co-ownership, in accordance with the Code de la construction et de l'habitation. For the moment, nothing has been decided, but the subject is likely to come to the fore in the autumn.
