France is preparing to host its biggest sporting event of the year, ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games: the Rugby World Cup 2023. For the occasion, several fan zones have been set up, notably on Place de la Concorde, between the Champs-Elysées and the Eiffel Tower. Nearly 15,000 people are expected to attend on match days, and up to 39,000 during those of the XV de France, a situation that calls for securing the site and its surroundings. A two-way traffic system has been set up on the Place de la Concorde to guarantee the usual flow of traffic until November 8, when the village will disappear. However, exceptional configurations are expected in the event of large crowds, and the entire perimeter of the Place de la Concorde will then be affected, with bans imposed by the Prefecture de Police.
On the day of the opening match , and in the event of the French team qualifying for the finals, traffic will be restricted to one direction only, from the Rue Royale towards the Pont de la Concorde, from September 8 at 12pm to September 9 at 2am, and possibly from October 14 to 15, October 20 to 21 and October 27 to 28. All access to the perimeter will beforbidden to motorized vehicles and bicycles, and pedestrians will be subject to security checks.
