If you travel on lines L and J, you'll have to be patient or find an alternative this Monday, February 3. Trains on line L are suspended between Paris and La Défense until 9 a.m., while the rest of the line remains heavily impacted. On line J, traffic has come to a complete halt between Paris Saint-Lazare and Mantes-la-Jolie, via Conflans, Pontoise and Gisors, and should only gradually resume from 9 a.m. onwards. For safety reasons, train speeds have been reduced between Paris and Mantes, in both directions.
According to SNCF, the power failure initially led to a complete interruption of NOMAD train traffic between Paris and Mantes in both directions. Power was finally restored at 7:48 a.m., but traffic has resumed at reduced speed. SNCF expects traffic to remain disrupted until 11 a.m. on all the routes concerned.
On social networks, several travelers reported a confused situation at Saint-Lazare station. Some are reporting the presence of firefighters and police on site. The SNCF NOMAD TRAIN account on X (ex-Twitter) confirmed that a fire on a catenary was the cause of the breakdown.
Good news for Paris transport users: the metro lines serving Gare Saint-Lazare (3, 12, 13 and 14) are operating normally and are not affected by this incident.
While technical teams are working to restore the situation, SNCF is inviting passengers to consult its real-time information channels to follow traffic developments.
