Jim Morrison, the iconic singer whose life is intimately linked to Paris, will soon have a footbridge named after him. The decision was taken following a vote by the Paris City Council, as this year marks the 60th anniversary of the birth of The Doors, the legendary band led by the American poet and leader.

" Riders on the Storm ", " People Are Strange ", " Break On Through ( To The Other Side ) ", " Light My Fire ", " L.A. Woman " and " Roadhouse Blues "... Who doesn't know these timeless hits by The Doors? This year marks the 60th anniversary of this legendary Californian psychedelic rock band. To celebrate the six decades of The Doors' formation, the City of Paris has decided to name a footbridge in tribute to Jim Morrison, who tragically died in the capital on July 3, 1971, at the age of 27.

A proposal approved by the Paris City Council, and supported by Laurence Patrice, deputy mayor of Paris in charge of remembrance. Jim Morrison"made Paris the place of his last inspirations", commented Laurence Patrice on her social networks.

So, which location has been chosen to bear Jim Morrison's name in Paris? It's a footbridge overlooking the Bassin de l'Arsenal, not far from the Place de la Bastille.

This footbridge, soon to be renamed in tribute to Jim Morrison, will join the long list of places visited by fans of the artist when they come to Paris. Since the death of the " Lizard King ", the capital has become a place of pilgrimage for his many admirers. Every July 3 (the day of the singer's death), many of them gather at the Père-Lachaise cemetery to pay their respects at the artist's grave.

Many other Parisian places frequented by Jim Morrison are included in this pilgrimage, such as the Place des Vosges, the quays of the bouquinistes and the Shakespeare and Company bookshop, where he frequently hung out. We should also mention his last known residence, located in the Marais (17 rue Beautreillis), and N°57 rue de Seine, which housed the famous Rock'N'roll Circus.
