Bad news for those who were looking forward to a musical treat on the Champs-Elysées on New Year's Eve 2026. On December 31, 2025, there will be no traditional concert on the most beautiful avenue in the world. TheParis police prefecture requested the cancellation of the event for security reasons, as revealed by our colleagues at France Info on Tuesday, December 2.
The police prefecture has asked the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo,to cancel the big concert on the Champs-Elysées in order to reduce the risk of stampedes, gatherings, crowd movements, and unrest linked to the large crowds expected at the event.
In the past, the Champs-Elysées concert attracted a million curious onlookers to the avenue and adjacent streets, mobilizing 6,000 police officers and gendarmes responsible, among other things, for several mandatory checkpoints to access the Champs-Elysées. This was enough to cause concern among the mayor of the district, the Paris City Hall, and the police headquarters.
The good news, however, is that the fireworks display at midnight will go ahead as planned, as will the concert broadcast on France 2, which was recorded in November at Place de la Concorde.
