A fire broke out in Boulogne-Billancourt (92), west of Paris, on the morning of Friday August 22, 2025. The fire engulfed a residential apartment, from which thick black smoke billowed high into the sky, intriguing Parisians and local residents alike. We report on the situation and the emergency response.

In the wake of the Villeneuve-la-Garenne tragedy, also in Hauts-de-Seine (92), where a 3-year-old child lost his life in a fire, a new fire broke out this Friday, August 22, 2025, in Boulogne-Billancourt. This time, it was an apartment on the 4th floor of a five-storey residential building at 5, rue de Clamart that was destroyed. The building is located near the Place du Marché and the municipal swimming pool.

The fire broke out shortly before 7 a.m., according to the Paris Fire Brigade (BSPP). Thick black smoke was billowing from the building, visible from afar. The affected apartment was heavily damaged, but the fire, described as"small" by the BSPP, was quickly brought under control: the flames were completely extinguished shortly after 8 a.m., preventing them from spreading to the other dwellings, according to Le Parisien.

Around 50 firefighters and ten trucks were deployed to the scene. One person was taken care of by the ambulance service, but the full death toll is still unknown. As a precaution, the building's occupants were evacuated.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
