Île-de-France motorists are experiencing a particularly difficult morning this Thursday, September 25, 2025. With 400 kilometers of traffic jams recorded at 8:30 a.m. according to Sytadin.fr, the traffic situation in the Paris region is well above the usual average of around 250 kilometers at the same time. This exceptional congestion is affecting the entire motorway network in the Paris region, turning commuting into a veritable obstacle course.
This heavy traffic was mainly due to a series of simultaneousaccidents on several of the region's major roads. These incidents, involving both light vehicles and heavy goods vehicles, led to a cascade of lane closures and slowdowns across the entire Paris region network. The situation is reminiscent of the worst traffic jams the region can experience, usually observed during major vacation departures or bad weather.
TheA15 freeway, a strategic link between Paris and the provinces, was hit particularly hard by an accident involving two light vehicles and a heavy goods vehicle. One of the four lanes was closed, creating a bottleneck that disrupted traffic for several kilometers. This artery, used daily by thousands of commuters from the Paris region, particularly those coming from the Yvelines, is experiencing considerably longer journey times.
Theouter A86, the Paris region's main ring road, has not been spared. Between Rueil and Bougival, a light vehicle accident forced the closure of the right-hand lane on all four available lanes. This disruption has a direct impact on the residents of Hauts-de-Seine who use this route to reach the capital or other departments in the Paris region.
Further south, theA6B from Wissous to Fresnes also suffered the consequences of an accident between three light vehicles. With the middle lane closed on all three available lanes, motorists in the Essonne region saw their morning commutes considerably disrupted. This stretch of freeway, already saturated at rush hour, becomes almost impassable in these conditions.
TheA10, which runs from Massy-Palaiseau station to Massy, completes the picture of traffic chaos in the Paris region. An accident between two light vehicles led to the closure of the right-hand lane on both sides of the road, creating a particularly punishing funnel effect for users.
In view of this exceptional situation, Bison Futé advises motorists to postpone non-urgent journeys or take public transport. RATP and SNCF, via Île-de-France Mobilités, are maintaining their usual services to offer an alternative to saturated roads.
This difficult day once again highlights the vulnerability of the Paris region road network to incidents. The authorities are reminding drivers of the importance of being cautious at the wheel, and invite them to consult traffic information regularly before setting off, notably via the Sytadin mobile application or local radio traffic reports.
