Exciting news for residents of Limay and the right bank of the Seine! The A14 Express Bus Line will soon no longer depart from Mantes-la-Jolie but will instead start directly from Limay, in the Yvelines. This update was officially announced on Friday, December 19, 2025, during mobility workshops hosted by the urban community Grand Paris Seine & Oise (GPS&O) and Île-de-France Mobilités. The route change aims to better balance transportation options between both sides of the Seine and coincides with the upcoming integration of RER E (Eole) into the Mantois area, scheduled for 2027.
For the mayor of Limay, this decision is the fulfillment of a long-standing request. "This is excellent news. It’s a positive response to the longstanding demands I made to the regional president, Valérie Pécresse," he told Actu.fr. This marks a significant step forward in improving mobility for local residents and making their journeys to La Défense business district easier.
Specifically, two new bus stops are planned in Limay. The first will be located in the northern part of the town, near the Fosses Rouges area. The second will be positioned close to the Lafarge site. From there, buses will quickly connect to the ring road and merge onto the A13 highway, followed by the A14. This route will provide a direct and efficient link to La Défense. The new setup is expected to significantly cut travel times for commuters and present a viable alternative to driving alone.
The timetable remains uncertain for now. While the official plan is to launch services with the arrival of Eole in 2027, some questions still linger. Currently, only three trains per hour will run on the RER E at the start, compared to the six trains expected in 2029 or 2030. Djamel Nedjar emphasizes the importance of starting the bus service to Limay in 2027 rather than waiting until 2030. “We’re advocating for the bus to reach Limay by 2027, not 2030. This is still under discussion with GPS&O and Île-de-France Mobilités,” he states. For residents on the right bank, the key issue is securing tangible improvements to their public transportation options.
Beyond the launch of this new express line, Limay’s mayor is also pushing for enhanced service on bus routes 5401 and 5406. The goal? To provide a reliable, frequent connection between these two upcoming Express A14 stops and the wider region. This strategy aims to create a well-connected network, allowing commuters to easily access the express line’s starting points without necessarily relying on their own vehicles. The result should be smoother traffic flow across the bridges over the Seine and a reduction in the persistent traffic jams in the area.
On the right bank, the announcement was also warmly welcomed by Lionel Giraud, the mayor of Issou. "We were hoping for this good news in the second half of 2026. It’s arriving much sooner than expected, and we’re delighted," he expressed. This new service is expected to benefit all the surrounding communities, which see this project as a chance to ease the area's isolation and improve access to employment in the La Défense corridor.
