Located on the right bank of Paris, the 8th arrondissement is renowned for its upscale reputation: it's home to several must-see historical landmarks, luxury boutiques and high-end fashion houses, world-class museums, theaters, and Michelin-starred restaurants. Of course, it also boasts the iconic Champs-Elysées and the Elysée Palace!

The 8th arrondissement is undeniably a key strategic stronghold in Paris, drawing the attention of multiple political parties and figures. With municipal elections set to return soon, several candidates are already jockeying for victory in the mayoral race of the 8th arrondissement. On March 15 and 22, 2026, voters will have a range of options among various candidate lists in this important local election.

The next mayor will have the task, over the coming six years, of managing a very special district. Indeed, the 8th arrondissement is home to the Élysée Palace, the seat of the French presidency, as well as the Ministry of the Interior. The Avenue des Champs and its Arc de Triomphe are also iconic landmarks: here, we celebrate everything from sporting victories to New Year’s and Bastille Day festivities.

The 8th arrondissement draws numerous tourists eager to explore landmarks such as the Grand and Petit Palais, the Jacquemart-André Museum, the Alexandre III Bridge, the Cernuschi Museum, as well as iconic venues like the Lido and Crazy Horse cabarets... It’s also home to the headquarters of major brands like LVMH, Vivendi, Hermès, and L’Oréal.

This district covers nearly 3.9 square kilometers, stretching from the Seine River to Parc Monceau and from the Arc de Triomphe to the Church of La Madeleine. According to Insee, it had a population of 35,418 residents in 2022.
