Paris Municipal Elections 2026: Meet the Candidate Elected to Lead the 9th Arrondissement

Residents of the 9th district headed to the polls to elect their mayor in the second round of the 2026 municipal elections. Here are the results of the vote—find out who will be leading the 9th arrondissement.

Delphine Bürkli, the candidate from La France audacieuse, Horizons (a center-right coalition), has been re-elected as the mayor of the 9th arrondissement.

From the Palais Garnier to Pigalle, and from Gare Saint-Lazare to the Faubourg-Montmartre district, the 9th arrondissement is renowned for its vibrant cultural scene and iconic department stores that draw visitors from around the globe. Situated on the right bank of Paris, nestled between the 1st arrondissement and the charming neighborhood of Montmartre, the 9th is a lively crossroads bustling with activity, both day and night.

Some of the most iconic and beloved spots in Paris can be found in the 9th arrondissement. For shoppers, this area offers the renowned Galeries Lafayette Haussmann and Printemps Haussmann, along with the Le Passage du Havre shopping center and several historic covered passages. The neighborhood is also home to famous markets and specialty food shops.

Of course, this district is also renowned for its vibrant cultural scene and historic landmarks: home to the Garnier Opera House, the Grévin Wax Museum, the Romantic Life Museum, the Casino de Paris, and the legendary Folies Bergères, along with the Olympia and Mogador Theatre, the 9th arrondissement prides itself on a rich and sought-after cultural life.

By March 2026, residents of the 9th arrondissement will need to elect their new city council. On March 15 and 22, voters will be presented with several lists of candidates, from which they will choose their mayor and their municipal representatives for the next six years.
