Where to see Pope Leo XIV in the papamobile in Paris? On Friday, September 25, 2026, the Holy Father will ride along from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM between Notre-Dame-des-Champs and Place Saint-Michel. Traffic will be banned on September 25 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. within the area designated for the walk. A protective perimeter will also be set up from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with access controls around the route.
The pedestrianized route will be fully secured and divided into 12 self-contained welcome zones, each equipped with its own screening point. They are set to open from 12:00. The detailed plan for these zones, their exact entry points, and the recommended subway stations have yet to be announced.
The parking ban will be in effect from Thursday, September 24 at 11:00 a.m. until Friday, September 25 at 8:00 p.m. in the area affected by the measure.
A decree published in the Official Journal on September 4, 2026 also outlines several routes reserved for the papal visit: Avenue de Suffren, Avenue de Lowendal, Avenue de Tourville, Place Vauban, Avenue de Villars, Boulevard des Invalides, Boulevard du Montparnasse, Avenue de l'Observatoire, Boulevard Saint-Michel, Place Saint-Michel and Boulevard du Palais.
However, this list does not mean that all of these roads will be completely closed for the entire day. The decree defines the perimeter related to the "grand event", but does not yet spell out the traffic restrictions that will apply on a street-by-street basis.
Access to the papamobile route will be free and no reservation will be required. The public must enter through one of the 12 secured zones and pass a checkpoint. Movement between zones will not be possible without leaving the perimeter and undergoing a new security screening.
Authorities still need to clarify the exact layout of the perimeter, the streets to be closed, access to the different zones, and any disruptions or closures of metro stations.
