Tucked away on the Orsay campus of the Université Paris-Sud, this museum is home to a wealth of cutting-edge equipment that is the stuff of science lovers' dreams. Discover Sciences ACO, the museum of light and matter. This little-known museum is an unusual historical site, which came to life in the 1980s on the initiative of mediators and physicists who wanted to create a meeting place for enthusiasts and researchers.
Sciences ACO exhibits the Orsay Collision Ring, a machine built in the 1960s as a circular particle accelerator-collider to study atoms. It was the very first machine of its kind in France!
Scientific objects, cutting-edge machines and experimental equipment, this unique museum houses some astonishing and fascinating collections. To discover them, nothing could be simpler: just come and visit Sciences ACO on May 18, 2024, during the Nuit des Musées!
During this free cultural event , the museum opens its doors to all visitors and takes us on fascinating tours, following in the footsteps of great researchers and their discoveries. For more details, see the detailed program for this 20th edition.
Visit the Musée Science ACO by torchlight with a guide.
The museum includes the control room of a former particle gas pedal, as well as part of it: the Anneau de Collision d'Orsay (ACO). In addition to the history of the site, a number of fun experiments are on offer to help visitors understand the workings of a particle gas pedal and its countless applications.
A program that should inspire budding scientists, and all the curious! Happy Nuit des Musées to all.
