This artistic and cultural education project, carried out in collaboration between the Musée Marmottan Monet and two CM1 classes from the Ecole Amiral Roussin, offers a fresh look at Impressionist paintings.
During several sessions at the museum and in the classroom, pupils discover and work on the notions of détournement and appropriation through the Impressionist works of Claude Monet and Berthe Morisot.
What would Monet have depicted today? Would the water lily pond still be so beautiful and colorful? If Monet had traveled to Japan, what would he have liked to show? How can a 19th-century painting be interpreted in 2024? What message can I convey with an Impressionist painting? The children, through their artistic detour, will welcome the public and explain their project.
