The Musée Cognacq-Jay will be opening its doors free of charge this Saturday, May 17, 2025, as part of the 21st Nuit des Musées (Night of the Museums), featuring 18th-century works evocative of the Age of Enlightenment, acquired between 1900 and 1927 by Ernest Cognacq.

Are you sure you know all the museums in Paris? Even the most confidential ones? In central Paris, in the 3rd arrondissement, lies the Musée Cognacq-Jay. This lovely museum is exceptionally opening its doors until 11pm this Saturday, May 17, 2025, for the 21st Nuit des Musées.

This former Marais townhouse, now a museum, houses the collections of art lovers Ernest Cognacq and Marie-Louise Jay. During his lifetime, the founder of the Samaritaine bought numerous 18th-century European works. Paintings, sculptures, precious objects, drawings, porcelain, everyday objects from the Age of Enlightenment... Ernest Cognacq had an eye and a taste for exceptional works of art, which can now be admired at leisure in his museum. These include paintings by Rembrandt, Watteau, Fragonard, François Boucher, Canaletto, Houdon. ..

During this Nuit des Musées, we'll be strolling among these must-see works of art, and taking advantage of the unique events organized for this special night.
