On June 21, dust off your instruments and hit the streets to mark the return of the famous and essential Fête de la Musique!
But what exactly is the Fête de la Musique? A free, public music celebration, it was launched in 1982 at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture. That year, the ministry’s Studies and Research service conducted a major survey on French cultural practices. The findings showed that five million people, including one in two young people, played a musical instrument. From there, Jack Lang, Christian Dupavillon, a designer-architect and member of his cabinet, and Maurice Fleuret imagined a grand, popular event with the aim of giving all musicians a platform to express themselves and be heard. The very first Fête de la Musique was launched on June 21, 1982, the symbolic day of the summer solstice.
For more than 40 years now, French people have gathered every June 21 to properly celebrate this event, with many venues taking part.
This year again, Hasard Ludique is not missing out on the Fête de la Musique, set for Sunday, June 21, 2026. The venue in Paris’s 18th arrondissement is hosting a free and festive outdoor open-air celebration. Indeed, this year, the Hasard Ludique cranks the volume on the rails of the Petite Ceinture and presents a carte blanche to Marlon Hoffstadt, aka DJ Daddy Trance.
