This year, the town of Palaiseau is celebrating Music Day on Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21, 2026! What’s on the program? Two musical days packed with free concerts featuring rising young talents, roaming batucadas, and Indochine covers.

The fête de la musique is back in Paris, in Île-de-France and across the country on Sunday, June 21, 2026. For this new edition, the musical event has some truly delightful sonic surprises in store to explore in the streets, of course, but also in squares, parks and gardens, in museums as well as in churches.

As a reminder, the inaugural Fête de la musique was launched on June 21, 1982, thanks to Jack Lang, then Minister of Culture, Maurice Fleuret, and Christian Dupavillon, an architect and scenographer who served on the minister’s staff. Back then, they aimed to kick off a large, popular event that would give musicians of all backgrounds a chance to perform and make themselves known for one festive evening.

For 44 years now, the Fête de la musique has been bringing music to life in all its forms every June 21 with an eclectic lineup.

While the Fête de la musique in Paris promises a rich and varied lineup, the music-minded buzz isn’t missing elsewhere in Île-de-France, including in Palaiseau. This Essonne town once again joins the popular, festive celebration with two musical days this year, to be enjoyed on Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21, 2026. Meet at place de l'Hôtel de Ville, place de la Victoire, and the square on rue de Paris to dance and soak up the party!
