The Fête de la musique hits the streets on Sunday, June 21, 2026! Since 1982, French people have been invited to bring their instruments out into the open and let live music pour forth. Each year on the same date, budding musicians and singers take to the streets, boulevards, squares, and bridges—and also to gardens, parks, cafés, bars and restaurants, and sometimes even churches and museums. The objective? To pay homage to music in all its forms, if only for one day.
From rock to metal, and through rap, R&B, salsa, reggae, zouk, classical music, French pop, jazz, blues, funk and electro... The city’s best music deals spill onto the streets of Paris, of course, but also across many Île-de-France towns. From Fontainebleau to Thiais, via Chelles, Sartrouville, Vincennes and Melun... a slew of concerts takes place every June 21 in these Île-de-France communities.
However, sometimes the Music Day is also celebrated the evening before or the day after June 21. This year, several Île-de-France towns have chosen not to follow the tradition and to mark the new Music Day on June 20.
