Archerymade itsappearanceveryearly in the Olympic Games,at the ParisGames in 1900. Itwascontested at the 1904, 1908 and 1920editions, but wasnotcontested for more thanfifty years before making acomebackat the 1972 MunichGames. The archeryhas notleft theOlympic programsince.Korealargelydominates theOlympicrecord ofthis discipline, havingwon 23gold medals out of the 40put inplay.
Among theFrench archers who have distinguished themselves, there is Sebastien Flute, Olympic champion in 1992, the women's team composed of Sophie Dodémont, Virginie Arnold and Berengaria Schuh, bronze medalists in 2008 and Jean-Charles Valladont, Olympic vice-champion in 2016.
For Paris 2024, 128 athletes will be selected, from July 28, 2023 to June 28, 2024. Franceshould be able to count on Lisa Barbelin, European champion 2021, Jean-Charles Valladont or Thomas Chirault.
