From July 26 to September 7, 2024, we're not telling you anything new: Paris is hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games, 2024 edition, during a summer that's as sporty as it is exceptional for the capital.
For the occasion, a number of venues - notably historic - have been converted to host the events: the Grand Palais, where you can admire the fencing events under its magnificent glass roof, theHôtel de Ville, where the whistle will be blown for the start of the marathon... There are also some beautiful Olympic sites in the 7th arrondissement, specially laid out for the Games!
Located opposite the famous Hôtel des Invalides, the eponymous esplanade is the place to be for Parisians, as soon as the warm weather returns, for a picnic with friends, an impromptu game of volleyball... The hotel, built under King Louis XIV in 1687, was once a military hospital and retirement home for war veterans. Today, it's home to several museums on the history of Paris and - the highlight of your visit - the tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte.
For the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Esplanade des Invalides is hosting the archery and para-archery events. It will also host the marathon and some road cycling events.

After the Parc des Expositions in the south of Paris, it's the turn of the Grand Palais Éphémère to be transformed for the Games: from July 26 to September 7, the venue becomes theArena Champ-de-Mars, designed to host the judo, para-judo, wrestling and wheelchair rugby events. Since early 2021, the ephemeral Grand Palais has housed exhibitions, trade shows and conferences until the Grand Palais reopens, after being closed for renovation. The site will therefore retain no trace of the Games, as the ephemeral Grand Palais is due to be dismantled in autumn 2024.
To get to theArena Champ de Mars, take metro lines 6, 8 or 10 and get off at the Motte Picquet-Grenelle stop.
