Screening sessions, library, museum, festivals… The Cinémathèque Française is the perfect place if you want to learn more about the history of cinema.

How about enjoying a movie session followed by a museum tour without leaving the theater? It is possible. Set in the middle of the Parc de Bercy, the Cinémathèque Française gathers several spaces in one building. Enjoy a library, a bookstore, a screening room, a museum, and even temporary exhibitions twice a year, all this in the same place.

And the museum on its own is very outstanding. At least 600 collector’s pieces are displayed all year around. You can see items such as a thaumatrope, optic boxes and period costumes, all related to the cinematographic history and heritage.

Furthermore, if you happen to be a period movie buff or if you have never had the chance to discover it, the Cinémathèque hosts retrospectives all year long. And movies from all over the world are given pride of place. Alfred Hitchcock, Gérard Oury, Jean-Luc Godard, or even Vittorio de Sica, enjoy feature films by major directors back in the theater.

And in addition to these cultural activities and retrospectives, the Cinémathèque Française has also instated instructive workshops for the youngest. Guided tours, debates, and opening of a studio as a new educative space, kids are starting to be introduced to the world of cinema.

All this in the heart of the Parc de Bercy where you can also find a skate park, perfect if you love skating. But you can also visit the Maison du Jardinage where plant workshops and exhibitions occur all year around. Walk for 7 minutes and enjoy Bercy Village, an outdoor shopping mall providing restaurants likely to indulge you such as Roberta or Jour. And for a concert or a cultural event, meet at the famous Accor Arena, only a few meters from the Cinémathèque.
