Cinema's kindest villain is back in a fourth opus, scheduled for July 3, 2024. Gru and his minions are back in theaters for a new adventure as crazy as ever. Illumination and Universal Studios have confirmed that the hit series will soon have a new episode: Despicable Me 4.
In 2010, we met Gru, the minions and the three girls who were to win our hearts: Margot, Edith and Agnès. We also discovered these little yellow guys, speaking incomprehensible but hilarious gibberish, who quickly became a hit in their own right.
Twelve years later, there are three Despicable Me films, and two spin-offs centered around the Minions and their encounter with Gru. Minions 2: Once Upon a Time Gru was released last summer in France.
This ultra-popular children's saga has already grossed $3.7 billion. Enough to expand the universe even further.
As yet, nothing is known about the story of Illumination Entertainment's next film. Chris Renaud, who had already worked on the first two films in the saga, is directing this fourth opus. The screenplay is by Illumination founder Mike White. Gad Elmaleh will once again lend his voice to the villainous Gru. In VO, actor Steve Carrell plays the lead role.
