A project with excessive ambition, constantly postponed because of Covid-19, Top Gun: Maverick was supposed to save the cinema, according to its star, Tom Cruise. By beating many records, he might be well on his way to achieve his goal!

The records are falling one after the other: biggest worldwide success of the year, first at the American and French box-office in 2022, the biggest success of Tom Cruise 's career and his first film to exceed one billion dollars in revenue. Top Gun: Maverick is definitely the blockbuster of the moment, not to be missed! For once, it is neither Disney nor Marvel that holds the number 1 spot. With this film, Tom Cruise wanted to save theaters, and he may well be succeeding. Since the beginning of the pandemic, only one film has been more successful, and that is Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In France, the film has so far reached more than 4.14 million admissions, which makes it the second biggest triumph since the reopening of theaters, behind the third part of Spider-Man's adventures. And this feat is far from over since the film will start its fifth week of exploitation, and can stay in theaters for many more weeks. Especially since the Film Festival is approaching, it should allow it to inflate its figures a little more. It is easy to imagine that the film will easily exceed five million admissions.

A well-deserved success, considering the quality of the sequel to the 1986 cult film. As we explained in our review, we loved the film and we strongly encourage you to discover it, if you haven't already done so!
