After a trilogy of films released between 2013 and 2017, Gaumont has decided to produce a reboot of Belle et Sébastien, the adaptation of the cult 1960s soap opera, and set the plot of Belle et Sébastien: Nouvelle Génération in our own time. The film, broadcast this Friday, July 28 on Canal+ at 9:10pm, is directed by Pierre Coré, a veteran of children's films(Sahara, L'aventure des Marguerites).
In the role of little Sébastien, the production has chosen Robinson Mensah-Rouanet, whose first film as an actor. But he's well supported by Michèle Laroque (Joyeuse Retraite, Ténor, Alors on danse), Alice David(Babysitting, Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait tous au bon Dieu) and Caroline Anglade(Tout simplement Noir, All Inclusive, Divorce Club).
10-year-old Sébastien reluctantly spends his vacations in the mountains with his grandmother and aunt. His job is to help out at the sheepfold - nothing too exciting for a city boy like him... but that's without counting on his encounter with Belle, a huge dog mistreated by her master. Ready to do anything to avoid injustice and protect his new friend, Sébastien is in for the wildest summer of his life.
