A unique work. For his second feature-length film as director, Thomas Salvador offers a phantasmagorical reverie in the Alps with La Montagne, a tale that veers towards the fantastic. DVD release scheduled for May 31, 2023.
The story couldn't be simpler: it's that of Pierre, a Parisian executive who decides to leave everything behind, answering the call of the Alpine mountains. Irresistibly attracted, he sets off alone on an adventure and practically settles there. With very little to say and sublimely staged, the film becomes a mesmerizing fairy tale. Thomas Salvador, who plays the lead role as well as directing, is a true revelation. Alongside him, Louise Bourgoin also plays a lovely role, proving once again that she is one of our greatest actresses.
It's a real surprise, but unfortunately it's facing a number of releases on February 1, so don't hesitate to give it a chance and see it in cinemas. Winner of the Directors' Fortnight Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and the Gérardmer Fantastic Film Festival, La Montagne caused quite a stir.
