Los Delincuentes, an Argentine thriller directed by Rodrigo Moreno. Presented in the Un Certain Regard selection at the Cannes Film Festival 2023, the film stars actors Margarita Molfino, Esteban Bigliardi and Cecilia Rainero in a story of two bank employees in search of freedom and adventure.
Los delincuentes tells the story of Román and Morán, two bank employees in Buenos Aires, trapped in the monotony of their daily lives. The two men's lives take an unexpected turn when Morán, fed up with their routine, decides on a daring plan: to steal a sum of money equivalent to their combined salaries for several years from the bank vault. This desperate act turns them into fugitives, forever changing the course of their lives.
In the course of their escape and the people they meet, Román and Morán each take a different path towards what they consider to be freedom. Los delincuentes explores the themes of ambition, disillusionment and the quest for a better life, asking universal questions about the price of freedom and the sacrifices it demands.
Rodrigo Moreno, known for his previous works such as El Custodio (The Bodyguard ) and Un mundo misterioso, brings to Los delincuentes a unique vision of drama and thriller. His ability to blend narrative tension with the psychological depth of the characters promises an intense cinematic experience.
Daniel Elias, Esteban Bigliardi, and Margarita Molfino, although relatively new to the international scene, have already proven themselves in Argentine cinema through their ability to aptly embody complex and nuanced characters.
