In 2024, over 780 cinemas in 700 towns across France broadcast live the opening ceremony and film of the Cannes Film Festival. For the 78th edition of the world's most important film festival, which takes place from May 13 to 24, 2025, we're doing it again!
Once again this year, this operation initiated by the Cannes Film Festival, France Télévisions, the Fédération Nationale des Cinémas Français and the CNC - with the friendly support of the AFCA - takes place this Tuesday evening, May 13, in cinemas in Paris and the Ile-de-France region.
All participating cinemas will screen the ceremony, presented by Laurent Lafitte and featuring an exceptional guest of honor, American actor Robert de Niro, who is about to receive a Palme d'Or for lifetime achievement.
But that's not all, as the opening film, Partir un Jour by Amélie Bonnin starring Juliette Armanet, will also be screened at the end of the opening ceremony. So, if you're an avid film buff but can't make it to the Cannes Film Festival 2025, here's a way to take part in this three-star event from afar!
