The second season of the fantasy series The Wheel of Time, based on the novels by Robert Jordan, will launch on Prime Video on September 1, 2023. Today, the streaming giant unveiled the first images and official release date of this new season.
Viewers can get ready to dive back into the fantasy world of The Wheel of Time, a captivating series that won over audiences in its first season. Season 2, comprising eight episodes, will be available exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories from September 1, 2023.
Lead actress Rosamund Pike will reprise her heroic role in the new season, alongside other key players such as Daniel Henney, Josha Stradowski, Madeleine Madden, Marcus Rutherford and Zoë Robins. Fans of the series will have to adapt to one major change, however: actor Barney Harris has decided to leave the series, and his role as Mat will now be played by Dónal Finn.
Season 2 will see a host of new actors join the adventure, including Ceara Coveney, Meera Syal, Natasha O'Keeffe, Guy Roberts, Arnas Fedaravicius, Gregg Chilingirian and Ayoola Smart, who will play the role of Aviendha, an Aiel. Other actors joining the series in recurring roles include Maja Simonsen, Ragga Ragnars, Jay Duffy and Rima Te Wiata.
Season 1 of The Wheel of Time ended on an intriguing note, with Rand, played by Josha Stradowski, realizing that he is the reincarnated Dragon and deciding to head off with Moiraine, played by Rosamund Pike, to the Eye of the World to finish off the Dark One. What plot twists are in store for Season 2? Viewers will have to wait until September to find out.
