After Debout sur la montagne, Ulysse & Mona and Marie et les naufragés, Sébastien Betbeder returns to the big screen with L'Incroyable Femme des neiges. For this new feature, the French director invites us on a journey to the Far North: to the icy, snow-covered lands of Greenland. An autonomous territory of Denmark that Sébastien Betbeder knows well. In 2014, he began a Greenland trilogy with two short films, Inupiluk and Le Film que nous tournéons au Groenland, followed by the feature film Le Voyage au Groenland with actors Thomas Blanchard, Thomas Scimeca and François Chattot.
The first trailer gives a glimpse of the film's singular universe and its atmosphere between comedy and existential drama.
The Incredible Snow Woman will be released in theaters on November 12, 2025.
Synopsis: Sleeping on the ice floe, crossing Greenland alone, fighting a bear with her bare hands... There's not much that scares Coline Morel anymore. Except, perhaps, confronting her own existence.
Sébastien Betbeder returns to Greenland with a new story and new actors and actresses. Comedian and humorist Blanche Gardin plays the title role, that of Coline Morel, an explorer and specialist in the Far North, whose life suddenly seems to be slipping away from her.
He is joined by the ever-popular Philippe Katerine, as well as Bastien Bouillon, winner of the César for Best Emerging Actor for his role in La Nuit du 12 en 2023. He recently appeared in Le Comte de Monte-Cristo and Monsieur Aznavour. Ole Eliassen, Martin Jensen, Clémentine Baert and Laurent Papot complete the cast of L'Incroyable Femme des neiges.
This dramatic comedy could appeal to viewers interested in travel tales, exploration stories and portraits of characters in search of meaning. Fans of auteur cinema who enjoyed Antarctica, a year on the ice or Into the Wild may also be drawn to this human and contemplative approach. The mix of humor, polar landscapes and existential questioning will broaden the audience beyond the usual exploration film audience.
Premiered in Berlin, the film is a continuation of Sébastien Betbeder's work on Greenland. With a cast combining well-known figures and new faces, L'Incroyable Femme des neiges promises to be a singular work, combining intimate drama and extreme landscapes.
