The Piano Accident lands on Netflix on October 2, 2026. Written and directed by Quentin Dupieux, this darkly comic thriller stars Adèle Exarchopoulos, Jérôme Commandeur and Sandrine Kiberlain as a web celebrity forced to vanish after a shoot that spirals out of control.
Magalie has made her fortune by publishing provocative and dangerous content under the alias Magaloche. A serious accident that occurs during a shoot pushes her to take refuge in a mountain chalet with Patrick, her personal assistant, to keep out of the media.
Her isolation is interrupted by the arrival of Simone Herzog, a journalist who holds information that could upend her career. Magalie refuses to answer her questions, but the situation gradually evolves into a power struggle and extortion.
Quentin Dupieux channels his love of the absurd into digital fame, viral content, and the crafting of a public image. With the action tightly focused on the chalet, the film leans into claustrophobic territory, blending comedy, satire, and a creeping sense of unease.
Adèle Exarchopoulos reunites with the director after Mandibules and Fumer fait tousser. She co-stars alongside Jérôme Commandeur, Sandrine Kiberlain and Karim Leklou.
Filming took place mostly in Haute-Savoie, notably in Megève and Combloux, with a few scenes shot in the Var. Released in cinemas in July 2025, the film has now joined Netflix’s catalog.
