Directed by Shingo Yamashita, this Japanese animated film combines musical comedy, fantasy, and science fiction. Produced with Studio Colorido and Studio Chromato, it stars Yuko Natsuyoshi, Anna Nagase, and Saori Hayami. It will be available in France on Netflix on January 22, 2026.
In the virtual world of Tsukuyomi, hope and imagination intertwine. Iroha, a 17-year-old high school student from Tokyo, divides her time between studying, working, and spending time in this digital space where she follows the streamer Yachiyo. One evening, she discovers a baby emerging from a glowing pole. The child quickly grows to her age, revealing an identity inspired by Princess Kaguya.
Kaguya dreams of becoming a streamer and singer in Tsukuyomi. Iroha becomes a producer and songwriter despite threats from mysterious entities ready to take the young girl back to the moon. Their journey explores a futuristic reinterpretation of the tale, carried by music and a relationship based on creation and self-discovery.
The film marks the first feature film by Shingo Yamashita, known for anime opening sequences such as Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. The project is inspired by the manga Valkyrie Apocalypse by the trio Shinya Umemura, Takumi Fukui, and Azychika. The visual design is by Yōko Tanabe, Hisashi Kawashima, and Tetsuya Kumagai. The soundtrack features several Vocaloid artists such as ryo (supercell), kz (livetune), 40mP, HoneyWorks, Aqu3ra, and yuigot. The animation is produced by Studio Colorido and Studio Chromato, in a universe that blends dreamlike imagery and technology.
The tone favors a musical and immersive approach, aimed at fans of contemporary animation, virtual worlds, and modern reinterpretations of traditional stories.
