A few weeks out from opening, the Cannes Film Festival 2026 has unveiled the lineup for its edition, scheduled to run from May 12 to 23. Jeanne Herry’s Garance is among the announced titles. It marks a key milestone for the project, since this exposure partly determines its international visibility.
The director’s previous feature films have already drawn strong crowds: Elle l'adore in 2014 with Sandrine Kiberlain and Laurent Lafitte, Pupille in 2018 with Sandrine Kiberlain and Gilles Lellouche, and more recently Je verrai toujours vos visages, with Élodie Bouchez and Adèle Exarchopoulos, whom she re-teams with in this new feature that should likewise find its audience in theaters.
Synopsis : Garance is a young actress who struggles with alcoholism. Eight years of a life on the move—constant relocations, work, chances encounters, parties, and anxiety, joys and setbacks. It’s also a deep, intimate upheaval—friendships and sexuality intertwined in a chaotic landscape that feels like a “great playground,” where love coexists with destruction.
