The selection for the Festival de Cannes is now known for this new edition, which will run from May 12 to 23, 2026 on the Croisette. Among the works in official competition for the Palme d'Or and the other prestigious prizes awarded by the jury, we have the new film by Koji Fukada, titled Some Days in Nagi (Nagi Notes).
The Japanese director makes his big return to the Cannes Film Festival. In 2016, he won the Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section for his psychological thriller Harmonium. In 2020, he would also have been on site, since his feature The Real Thing was selected for official competition. Alas, Covid intervened, the edition was canceled, and the selected films were branded with the Cannes 2020 label.
Synopsis : Yuri, a divorced architect, visits her former sister-in-law Yoriko, a sculptor living in the village of Nagi. What starts as a simple interlude soon takes an unexpected turn when Yuri agrees to model for her. As the sessions unfold, the silences fill with memories, and a long-buried bond between the two women resurfaces. Far from Tokyo’s frenetic pace, Yuri softens to the rhythms of rural life and the locals. Days pass, as if something in this place is inviting her to stay.
