French director Léa Mysius will unveil her new film, Histoires de la Nuit, in official competition at the Cannes Film Festival in 2026.

From May 12 to 23, 2026, the Festival de Cannes 2026 will once again draw global attention. Among the titles announced in the sélection officielle, the film Histoires de la Nuit by Léa Mysius already stands out as one of the French works to watch closely.

With a star-studded cast (Hafsia Herzi, Bastien Bouillon, Monica Bellucci), the French director is thus competing for the Palme d'Or 2026. Trained at the Fémis, it's not the first time Léa Mysius will head to the Croisette to premiere one of her works.

Although one of her early short films, Les Oiseaux-tonnerre, was selected for the Cinéfondation, it was with Ava, her debut feature starring Noée Abita and Laure Calamy, that the French filmmaker opened the 2017 Semaine de la Critique, also taking home the SACD prize. In 2022, her sophomore feature Les Cinq Diables was presented at the Quinzaine des Cinéastes.

Synopsis : Nora, Thomas and their daughter Ida live on an isolated farm, with only one neighbor, Cristina, an Italian painter. As everyone gears up for Nora’s surprise birthday party, three men loiter around the house and crash the celebration, unearthing long-buried secrets…
