Twenty years after turning Versailles into a pop-rock spectacle, Sofia Coppola reconnects with Marie Antoinette in Paris. The director will be at the Fondation Cartier on September 20, 2026 for a free autograph session.

Fans of powdery dresses, rock-influenced soundtracks, and candy-colored Versailles can mark their calendars: Sofia Coppola and Andrew Durham will be at the Fondation Cartier bookstore on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM to sign Making Marie Antoinette. Admission is free, while spaces last, at 2 Place du Palais-Royal. No royal invitation required, but you’ll want to get there early.

In time for the film’s 20th anniversary (the 2006 release), the book compiles hundreds of photos taken on set: actors between takes, hair and makeup sessions, candid backstage moments, and memories stretching to the Cannes premiere. Andrew Durham, a longtime friend and collaborator of Sofia Coppola, thus opens the doors to behind-the-scenes life, far from the glossy polish seen on screen.

Two decades later, Marie Antoinette still blends opulence, pop energy and audacity, propelled by Kirsten Dunst and a direction that has given the costume drama a fresh, modern lift. To mark its 20th anniversary, there’s no Versailles gala this time: head to the Fondation Cartier, book in hand. A meeting that should delight both cinema lovers and Coppola fans alike!
