Tenzing: The Quest for Everest lands on Apple TV on October 16, 2026. Directed by Jennifer Peedom, this fact-based drama revisits the journey of Tenzing Norgay, the climber who reached Everest's summit with Edmund Hillary in 1953. Genden Phuntsok leads the cast, alongside Tom Hiddleston, Willem Dafoe and Caitríona Balfe.
Within the British expedition, Tenzing holds essential mountain knowledge, yet he must prove his standing in a structure shaped by social and colonial hierarchies. His partnership with New Zealander Edmund Hillary, portrayed by Tom Hiddleston, becomes the turning point that drives the final push to the summit.
Willem Dafoe portrays expedition leader John Hunt. Caitríona Balfe stars as Jill Henderson, while Thinley Lhamo plays Dawa, Tenzing’s wife. The film follows the ascent, but also the relationships and obstacles that surround this achievement.
Written by Luke Davies, based on a story developed with Jennifer Peedom, Tenzing runs 2h05. A French release is announced with a French version, subtitles and an audio description.
