Woody Allen kicks off filming for his next movie in the Community of Madrid on October 5, 2026. This contemporary comedy, still untitled, will be shot over six weeks at more than thirty locations in Madrid and its surrounding area.
The plot will unfold within diplomatic circles, weaving together romance, intrigue, and infidelity. The final title must include the name Madrid, but the project is still circulating under tentative titles WASP 2026 and Woody Allen Fall Project 2026.
The cast brings together Alexi Wasser, Jemima Kirke, Peter Vives, Marton Csokas and Jakob Oftebro. Jordi Mollà and Paloma Bloyd are among the many Spanish actors set to join the production.
Shooting will take place in Madrid’s districts of Centro, Retiro and Salamanca, as well as in Aranjuez. More than 700 extras and supporting actors have been lined up, with a largely Spanish technical crew.
The film is produced by Wanda Vision, Gravier Productions, and 3SIX9 Studios. The budget announced by the City of Madrid stands at 12 million euros, with institutional backing from the city and the regional government.
This project will mark Woody Allen's 51st feature film and his return to Spain after Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Rifkin’s Festival. No French release date or festival selection has been announced yet.
