Building a shelter for the end of the world: the premise at the heart of Bunker, the film written and directed by Florian Zeller, starring Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz. Distributed in France by Pathé, it is announced for a 2027 cinema release.
A renowned architect agrees to design a secret shelter for a billionaire convinced that disaster is imminent. The project must stay hush-hush. As he digs into the task, his wife questions his choices and their life together. After seventeen years of marriage, the project lays bare their disagreements over what they want to save and how to achieve it.
The script ties a question of survival to a marital crisis: who can protect themselves, at what cost, and what becomes of a couple when their values diverge? The cast also features Stephen Graham, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Paul Dano.
Shot in English, Bunker is a co-production by Blue Morning Pictures, Mod Producciones and Pathé. A French press release announces it has been selected for competition at the Venice Film Festival and will also be shown at the Toronto International Film Festival.
