Imagine yourself, on a summer's evening, lying on the grass, a blanket on your lap and the stars above you, while a cult film lights up a giant screen... La Villette's open-air cinema is back for its 34th edition, after a break in 2024 due to the Olympic Games. From Wednesday to Sunday, from July 23 to August 17, 2025, this free event brings a rich, intergenerational and festive program to the northeast of Paris.
This year, La Villette is innovating with a state-of-the-art LED screen, enabling a double screening each day: at 6pm, films for young and old, mainly animated; at 9pm, works for more mature audiences. The theme is "Corps et accords", a cinematic journey through dance, music, movement and harmony.
Highlights include the July 23 opening with Ballerina (6pm), followed by La La Land (9pm), and the August 17 closing with Tous en scène and En corps. In between, you'll also find Barbie, Grease, Elvis, Mamma Mia!, Rocketman, as well as family favorites like Happy Feet, Jean de la Lune, The Wizard of Oz and Un Monstre à Paris.
The setting? The vast Pelouse de La Villette, open from 5pm, transformed each evening into a cinema under the stars. Admission is free, subject to availability, and for added comfort, you can rent a deckchair (6€) including a blanket. Please note that tickets for deckchairs are available online only, and open every day from 4pm for the evening.
Finally, to prolong the magic, the Eté du Canal offers festive cruises on the Canal de l'Ourcq, perfect for a smooth arrival to your cinema session.
