Fancy an adventure into the retro world of video games? Head for Virtual Room, a Parisian virtual reality brand offering a brand-new VR experience, Press Start. We've tested it, and we'll tell you all about it!

An experience somewhere between Jumanji and retrogaming... That's what Virtual Room, the virtual reality brand in Paris, is offering you with its latest adventure, Press Start, available in its establishments from November 24, 2021. A unique experience that plunges you into the heart of an incredible story set in a video game.

The pitch is quite clear:"Sucked into an arcade machine with your team, experience a true odyssey into the world of video games through 4 universes with iconic references. Take on an artificial intelligence to protect the real world from certain destruction: will you succeed in finishing on top of our virtual podium?"

Space Invaders, Super Mario, Zelda like... so many references that gamers will recognize at a glance! The experience is for two to four players, is not recommended for children under 12, and lasts approximately 45 minutes. In terms of difficulty, expect something intermediate... Enough to keep you on your toes, but not too complicated....

An experience that the editors were able to test... Our team of four players set off on their adventure, and were not disappointed. There are four games to discover in a clearly defined order: a kind of Space Invaders, a Zelda like, a Super Mario like and a half-futuristic, half-fantasy FPS. Four games with different approaches that allow you to review much of the gameplay that exists in basic video games. A good introduction, then, if you're not used to this medium, even though you're in VR.

On the difficulty front, however, things get a little trickier. While the first mini-game is accessible, the following ones require more skill and practice. But in the end, these defeats aren't really defeats at all, as they serve the main plot and lead to the final battle, bringing the game full circle. In any case, Press Start is a fine virtual reality experience that should appeal to novice and experienced gamers alike. And a fine tribute, too, to the history of video games!

A great adventure to discover for all retrogaming fans... And if you want to try out other titles, we recommend the excellent Are We Dead experience, which puts you in the shoes of a zombie trying to escape from the humans. Shall we take a trip to Virtual Room, my friends?

This test was conducted as part of a professional invitation. If your experience differs from ours, please mention it in the comments.
