Metal Gear fans, mark your calendars! This October 24, 2023 marks the triumphant return of the cult saga Metal Gear Solid with the release of Master Collection Vol.1 on PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, PC, and surprise, also on PS4. We take stock!

A long-awaited event, and now it's here... This October 24, 2023 marks the flamboyant return of the cult Metal Gear Solid saga with the release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1. Planned for PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC, this exceptional compilation offers a nostalgic yet resolutely modernized plunge into the epic universe conceived by Hideo Kojima. At a time when the excitement surrounding new releases such as Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Assassin's Creed Mirage is at its peak, the Master Collection presents itself as a nostalgic oasis in the midst of the storm.

Far from being a simple port, the Master Collection is a genuine tribute to the origins of the series. By bringing together the first three Metal Gear Solid installments in HD, as well as the two Metal Gear MSX episodes, Snake's Revenge, the VR missions and other exclusive bonuses, Konami is offering fans and new players alike a unique opportunity to (re)discover the evolution of the saga. The initial announcement sparked a wave of disappointment among PS4 owners, as the console seemed to be the big absentee from this videogame celebration. Konami, aware of the wealth of the PS4 installed base and the potential of a wider audience, finally decided to rectify the situation.

The good news came a few months after the original announcement: Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 will also be available to PS4 owners. This announcement not only widened the field of possibilities for gamers, but also heightened anticipation for the launch, scheduled for October 24, 2023. However, there's a downside for collectors. There are no physical editions planned for the PS4, a shadow over the horizon for those wishing to add a choice piece to their collection.

To obtain a boxed version, you'll have to turn to the PS5, Xbox Series or Nintendo Switch editions. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 is thus positioned not only as a must-have for gamers this year, but also as a privileged witness to the indelible legacy left by Hideo Kojima in the gaming world. So, ready to savor this Proust's madeleine, my friends?
