Ready to infiltrate a Soviet base with Naked Snake? Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, a video game developed and published by Konami, awaits you on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series from August 28, 2025. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, or MGS 3, plunges us into the middle of the Cold War, where we play as Naked Snake, an elite soldier sent into hostile territory to retrieve a Russian scientist. The game, considered a cornerstone of the saga, has been revealed with a new name: Metal Gear Solid Delta.
"Rival nations are secretly developing weapons capable of jeopardizing the future of mankind. Deep in the jungle, an elite soldier must combine stealth and survival skills to infiltrate enemy ranks and prevent the activation of a weapon of mass destruction capable of unleashing the greatest war the world has ever known."
What do we know about this remake of the fan-favorite opus? That it's a faithful remake of the original, with improved graphics. But the remake does offer a few new features, such as a change in gameplay style (3rd-person camera or overhead camera) and a "Snake vs. Monkey" mode, in which you have to find little monkeys to capture.
Our review of Metal Gear Solid Delta :
Play time: 22h
Is the remake of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater worth the detour... ? The answer is yes, if you enjoyed the PS2 and PS3 versions! The game's mechanics and story are the same as in that opus, with no major changes other than the fact that you can choose between a more modern and a more traditional game mode. As for the story, nothing has changed, but it's just as gripping as ever... You go from infiltration phases to boss battles one after the other, without getting bored for a minute. The Fear, The End, The Boss, The Pain, The Fury, The Sorrow, Volgin... They're all there!
We can, however, criticise Snake's handling, which, unlike the gameplay of today's games, has not evolved. It takes a while to get the hang of it, but once you've got the hang of it, everything becomes much more fluid. For fans of the franchise and of this game in particular, no worries, but for newcomers, this handling is likely to frustrate many.
Graphically speaking, the improvement is clearly visible, particularly in character details and features (the difference between the PS2/PS3 and PS5 versions of The Sorrow and its spirits is striking), provided you play in graphics mode, which we recommend you do, as the performance version doesn't hold a stable 60 fps. A real problem of fluidity, especially during combat phases.
But all this is overshadowed by a game that is a veritable madeleine de Proust for gamers. It's an iconic game that's fun to get back into, and that's what counts!
Konami offers us a great return for its emblematic franchise... Whatever the case, we can't wait to see The Pain and his swarm, or The Sorrow, perhaps one of the creepiest bosses in the franchise... In the meantime, we'll be waiting with bated breath for Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1? To your controllers!
