Saros updates the Game Awards, and the news isn't looking great... Housemarque announced during the gaming ceremony held on December 11, 2025, that its third-person action game, Saros, has been pushed back by about a month. Originally scheduled for March 20, 2026, the game will now release on April 30, 2026, still exclusively on PS5. The game continues the gameplay style introduced with Returnal, while offering a fresh approach.
Saros takes place on Carcosa, a lost colony plunged under an ominous eclipse. The player takes on the role of Arjun Devraj, a Soltari Enforcer determined to find a mysterious person. Housemarque describes the title as " an emotional and powerful character study that explores the cost of creating a new future ". Rahul Kohli(Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher) lends his features and voice to Arjun, bringing an extra dimension to the game's story.
One of the main changes compared to Returnal is the way progression is managed. Unlike its predecessor, Saros incorporates permanent resources and a progression system that allows players to retain and improve their equipment after each death. Housemarque emphasizes that " every death will be precious ", as it will change the environment and offer new strategic opportunities.
Preorders are still open, by the way. Meanwhile, we're diving back into Returnal with Gwendoline Christie. Time to get those controllers ready!
