Attention, fans of the Octopath Traveler saga... Square Enix invites you to discover its latest release in the franchise (yes, it’s now a full-fledged franchise): Octopath Traveler 0. This new installment is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 since December 4, 2025. This is a video game, a turn-based RPG in HD-2D, with a story set before the events of Octopath Traveler, entirely independent of the original universe.
It was "Day of Reverence" in Wishvale, the hometown of the protagonist, and the entire city was filled with celebration. Just as the blue flame symbolizing peace was about to be lit, the city was suddenly under attack, engulfed in blazing scarlet flames... Will you pursue a path of vengeance or focus on restoring peace? The choice is yours. Dive into the adventure and forge your destiny.
A game that sets itself apart through its gameplay, offering players the chance to customize their hero, rebuild their hometown after its destruction, interact with other characters via "Path Actions," and turn the tide of battle using the "Break" and "Boost" combat systems. The story is closely inspired by the mobile game OCTOPATH TRAVELER: Champions of the Continent, while introducing new narrative elements to enrich the experience.
If you're not ready to purchase the game right away, or just want a sneak preview, there's good news: a demo is available across all platforms, offering three hours of gameplay. This demo lets you create your own protagonist, explore the prologue, and get a taste of Chapter 1 with story arcs like "Master of Wealth", "Master of Power", "Master of Fame", and "Kindlers of the Flame." And of course, your save data can be carried over when you decide to buy the full version.
And for those who own demos of Octopath Traveler, Octopath Traveler II, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, or Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, a bonus campaign awaits in Octopath Traveler 0. If all this doesn’t make up your mind about whether to buy the game or not, then we’ve got nothing left to say! And who knows, with Noël coming up, you might just find it as a gift? Either way, it’s time to grab your controllers!
