Great news! The Fable franchise is finally rising from the ashes, and it’s adding a new entry set to drop on February 23, 2027, on Xbox Series, PS5 and PC. This highly anticipated title will thrust players back into the medieval fantasy world crafted by developer Playground Games.
Originally slated for 2025, Xbox announced on its podcast that it would push back the game's release in the interest of the game and the development team. The wait will definitely be worth it, asserts Craig Duncan, head of Xbox Game Studios. The launch is now targeted for winter 2027, with developers insisting the extra time will deliver an ambitious, high-quality production.
The wait for players is stretching on, and hopes grow a little with every delay announcement. Fans are itching to dive back into the saga, which only reveals itself in small, bite-sized glimpses.

This new game, teased by Xbox as far back as July 2020, is therefore a reboot of the franchise. In the trailer unveiled on June 10, 2024, we glimpse a medieval kingdom, brought to life by its heroes, magical beasts, and beings with superhuman powers.
