Good news! The Fable franchise has finally risen from the ashes, with a new opus to be released in 2026, exclusively on Xbox Series and PC. This new title, eagerly awaited for several years, takes us back to the medieval fantasy universe revived by development studio Playground Games.
Originally scheduled for 2025, Xbox has announced in its podcast that it is delaying the game's release for the good of the game and the development team. " The wait is definitely worth it," says Craig Duncan, director of Xbox Game Studios.
" What does it mean to be a hero? In the imaginary world of Albion, only you can answer that question. In a world where your reputation precedes you and a dark menace lurks, your choices will change Albion forever."
The first Fable game was released in 2004, in which you played the role of a young boy, leading him to adulthood by completing quests and missions. By making the right choices, you could become the hero of this medieval land. Fable II plunged us into the Age of Enlightenment, while Fable III brought us into the Industrial Revolution.
This new game, teased by Xbox as early as July 2020, is a reboot of the franchise. In the trailer unveiled on June 10, 2024, we discover a medieval kingdom, animated by its heroes, magical monsters and beings with superhuman powers. Fable, scheduled for release in 2026, will feature the same elements as its predecessors: an action-RPG where your character's destiny is based on your choices as a player.
