Tactics are taking hold in the Star Wars galaxy! Star Wars: Zero Company, a turn-based strategy game developed by Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games, will arrive on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series on August 27, 2026. Published by Electronic Arts, this exclusively single-player title puts players in command of the Zero Company, a mercenary unit pulled into a covert war at the tail end of the Clone War.

Our take on Star Wars: Zero Company:

A Star Wars title that landed a bit under the radar, with surprisingly little buzz surrounding it... to the point of wondering why the marketing was so quiet. Maybe it was all about the reveal? That’s how it felt at launch, as the game injects a fresh breath into the genre.

Reminder of the concept: the game drops you into strategic, turn-based clashes set during the Clone War, alongside Commander Hawks and his Zero Company. They’re dispatched on a ultra-secret strike mission: neutralize the Infinite Spire, a shadowy faction plagued by a highly peculiar illness.

On the gameplay side, note that each character brings unique traits tied to their armament, cover management, and the bonds built along the journey. Battles and objectives vary — retrieve an ally, take down the enemy threat, recover intel, or uncover artifacts. While the base combat loop can feel a touch repetitive over time, the range of tactical approaches and missions does a good job of keeping boredom at bay.

The appeal also lies in its pacing. Between two tactical turn-based showdowns, the game serves more classic RPG interludes inside semi-open spaces (a main base and a few corridors leading to the combat zones). These pauses, focused on gathering intelligence, regularly shake up the rhythm of the experience.

As for progression, the journey isn’t exactly a smooth ride. The rhythm constantly shifts between quick tactical menu choices (with immediate rewards), turn-based combat missions, and cycle management that forces you to prioritize some objectives over others.

Now, our tips:

Anticipate your mission choices

Cycle management forces tough calls. You won’t be able to do everything, so prioritize missions that offer the most critical resources or information for your squad, or you’ll miss valuable opportunities for what comes next.

Diversify your squad compositions

Don’t rely on a single setup. Character synergies and weapon quirks matter depending on the location layout. Adapting your tactic before hitting the field remains the best bet to avoid brutal setbacks. And yes, remember the snipers.

Alternate exploration and combat phases

Take time to explore the base between battles. These calmer sequences not only yield key intel that unlocks new missions, but also give you a breather between the tactical clashes.

Synopsis of Star Wars - Zero Company:

Take command of an elite squad through an authentic, unflinching story set in the twilight of the Clone Wars in Star Wars Zero Company™, a single-player turn-based tactics game developed by Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games. You play as Hawks, a former Republic officer at the head of Zero Company, a team of eccentric professionals recruited from across the galaxy. Players step into the boots of Hawks, a former Republic officer who now leads a clandestine squad drawn from all corners of the galaxy. The roster includes a clone trooper, a Mandalorian from the old Verminoth clan, a Jedi Padawan, and other recruits to be shaped to fit each mission. The objective is now clearer than ever: track down Kundri Fathom, the mastermind behind the Spire infinie, a separatist sect whose actions threaten to push the conflict to new heights. Greg Foertsch, CEO and creative director of Bit Reactor, explains: "Our team has packed Zero Company with everything we love about Star Wars. Bold characters, storytelling power, stunning settings, and the passion that fuels the Star Wars battles have helped us craft an experience that advances the tactical game genre by marrying deep gameplay with cinematic flair."

Tactical missions unfold between investigative operations and high-stakes clashes. From the Hideout, the operation base of Company Zero, players can recruit agents, upgrade their skills, develop facilities, purchase gear, and pick their next assignment on the holotable. In the field, bonds between player-created characters and the NPCs designed by the developers unlock support abilities and cross-training perks that boost the squad’s stats and competencies. The galactic map will span more than 150 planets, with progression driven by the choices made throughout the campaign.

Customization will also play a major role in Star Wars : Zero Company. Hawks and the agents recruited can be created from eight iconic Star Wars species: Devaronian, Human, Neimoidian, Ovissian, Togruta, Twi’lek, Weequay, and Zabrak. Voices, outfits, overall appearance, specializations and talents will evolve as you play. Douglas Reilly, vice president and general manager of Lucasfilm Games, notes: "Star Wars Zero Company adds a fresh, unprecedented experience to the Star Wars galaxy and to our fans. The game fuses tactical gameplay with a cinematic, character-driven approach in a way that’s innovative for the franchise".
