Did you always want to be a bookseller, but life took you elsewhere? Tiny Bookshop is the little indie game that will let you make up for it and advise books in a small seaside town, as part of your mobile bookshop.

Book lovers, this is the perfect game for you! Developed by neoludic games and published by Skystone Games, Tiny Bookshop is an itinerant bookshopmanagement simulator, available since August 7, 2025 on PC and Switch for 19.99 euros. You play the role of a bookseller who decides to leave everything behind and take his trailer full of second-hand books to a small seaside town called Bouquainville.

From spots to spots, which you unlock as the game progresses, you meet a whole host of characters, from the old village bookseller to an adorable child, not to mention the local sailors, who add quests for you to complete as you go along. At the start of each day, you'll have to buy new second-hand books to replenish your stock, as well as furniture and decorations to dress up your trailer, all of which carry sales bonuses or penalties!

Each picturesque spot sells more or less of certain literary genres, so you have to adapt depending on whether you're going to the lighthouse, the café or the beach, between drama, detective, fantasy, classic, youth, factual, travel, etc. Each buyer chooses his or her own books, but sometimes - and this is the whole point of the game - you have to advise them according to more or less far-fetched requests and rummage through your shelves, where you'll find real books, both old and very recent!

You can recommend your favorite books or discover new ones, but beware: if you don't suggest a good choice, the character won't buy! While you have to manage your rolling bookshop and its monetary fund, you can also interact with the landscape (and adopt a dog!), with a narrative dimension that prevents boredom. You can test the game with a short demo, which allows you to easily get to grips with the interface and make up your mind.

Our test

We gave in and reached the end of the first season, i.e. summer, after 4 hours. According to player feedback, Tiny Bookshop has been designed to last at least a year in terms of quests and other interactions, i.e. around 20 hours of play, without being too repetitive, but it is possible to go further and continue playing to improve the trailer, for example. Therein lies the rub, as 20 euros for 20 hours of gameplay isn't necessarily the best value for money.

But it's a real pleasure to become a bookseller without the drawbacks of real life, to have fun advising our customers of the day and to discover the little world of Bouquainville, which has a lot to offer, with its fish market, its endearing characters, its Saturday flea market - where you can get a whole bunch of items, if you have the necessary finances - or its occasional events.

We must salute the diversity of the characters who enter our trailer - which is accessible to people with reduced mobility - and the little details, such as the weather, the light according to the time of day, the hidden items...

It's easy to get caught up in the cosy, bucolic atmosphere, even if reader requests and books in the store tend to come back a little too often after a while. If you're not afraid of repetition, then this is the game for you, but if it's going to bore you, it might not be ideal! Since it's just been released, it's possible that in the future, new requests will emerge, as will new books to recommend!

To avoid routine, we recommend that you play for just a few minutes a day, the equivalent of a week in the game, so you can enjoy it for longer and not get too bored!
